Wyatt E. – Pursuing Bluegrass Music Career Without Putting School on Hold
Singer-songwriters and young musicians often spend long days traveling, rehearsing, recording, and performing. Whitmore School’s accredited online high school provides the flexibility to stay on track academically while pursuing a passion for music. Wyatt is one of many students who have discovered they don’t have to choose between their education and their dreams.
Inspired by a bluegrass great, Bobby Osborne’s “Rocky Top,” Wyatt was just 10 years old when he convinced his dad to buy him a used mandolin. Taking lessons in his hometown, he quickly developed picking skills and was excited to join in bluegrass jams.
Today, Wyatt is recognized as a prodigy and has made appearances at the Ellis Theater in Philadelphia, PA, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, and the Merlefest event Mandolin Mania.
A Day in Wyatt's Life - School and Travel to a Performance
8:17–9:30 a.m.
✈️ Fly to Ohio for the Bob Evans Farm Festival performance. During the flight, revise English assignments and read my novel.
9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
🎶 Head to the venue for rehearsal.
12:30–1:30 p.m.
🍴 Check into the hotel, have lunch, and relax before the afternoon.
1:30–3:30 p.m.
📚 Complete a new English lesson and submit a Math assignment.
4:00–6:00 p.m.
🎵 Return to the venue for another rehearsal.
6:00–9:00 p.m.
🍽️ Enjoy dinner with my family and unwind.
10:00 p.m.
😴 Get to bed early to be rested for tomorrow’s 9:00 a.m. performance.
