Virtual School Experience
What is it really like to go to a virtual high school?
Virtual school is not easier than a traditional brick and mortar school, but it does have its own set of benefits that may suit you perfectly. Check out what it’s really like to be a virtual high school student!
No More Bells
Are you ever in the middle of a problem when the bell rings? Sometimes bells, and the rigid schedule they represent, can be a difficult obstacle to achieving your full learning potential. Is 55 minutes of English enough time to learn the material? Is it too much time?
Whitmore School offers you the flexibility to learn at your own pace through a mastery-based curriculum. That means you can move through a lesson quickly, or take the time you need!
Mastery means revise, revise, revise.
You know that sinking feeling you get when that big red grade at the top of the paper isn’t what you hoped it would be? We don’t like that feeling either, and we don’t think it helps people learn.
At Whitmore School, you revise every assignment until you have mastered it! Here, you learn from your mistakes, instead of suffer from them.
One-to-One Teacher Support
Do you ever think of a question after class has ended? Or maybe you don’t want to ask your question in front of 20 of your peers. You won’t have to worry about that with Whitmore School.
Our students can ask questions in a supportive, friendly environment. Our teachers always welcome your questions.
Morning, Afternoon, or Night
Not everyone is most productive in the morning. Maybe you learn best when you can sleep-in and get started on school work mid-morning. Or maybe you are busy with other activities like guitar, sports, or work.
The beauty of Whitmore School is that you can learn whenever it best fits your schedule – whether you work in the AM or PM.
No due dates
Whitmore School doesn’t follow anybody’s schedule but yours. You turn in your assignments whenever you are done with them. Really!
You will not have to worry about falling behind schedule. This is just one way Whitmore School is different not only from your traditional school, but from other online schools as well.
Education means learning how to learn.
Life doesn’t hand you a textbook and a multiple-choice test sheet, and neither do we. Most of the assignments ask you to do a little digging to find things out for yourself. And you get to tell the teacher what you understand, in your own words.
At Whitmore, you will read, think and write. These are the real-life skills that make a difference when you head out into the world.
What does an average day look like?
That’s the thing, there really is no average day!
You create your own schedule. Maybe it looks like this:
9:00 am – Wake up and eat breakfast
10:00 am – English lesson
11:00 am – Go to the park
12:00 pm – Lunch
1:00 pm – Social Studies lesson
2:00 pm – Math Lesson
3:00 pm – Walk the dog
4:00 pm – Hang out with friends
5:00 pm – Go for a run
6:00 pm – Dinner with family
7:00 pm – Play a game
8:00 pm – Computer Science Lesson
9:00 pm – Read for fun
Or maybe you choose to do something totally different with your time. We know you have a lot of other things going on. So, you take the wheel. Challenge yourself daily to learn and grow. You will do it on your terms with Whitmore School.
