Online High School for Elite Dancers

Flexible Education for Dedicated Dancers

For serious ballet dancers, success requires discipline, commitment, and countless hours in the studio. Between daily classes, rehearsals, performances, competitions, and summer intensives, attending a traditional high school isn’t always practical. With self-paced, mastery-based learning and year-round enrollment, dancers can complete coursework around their rehearsal schedule without sacrificing educational quality.

Through self-paced, mastery-based learning, students like Karlee can continue working toward their high school diploma while pursuing their dreams on stage.

“I’m in the studio from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. I love Whitmore because I can complete my schoolwork while I am icing my feet when I get home in the evening.”

Meet Karlee

Karlee began dancing at age three and chose to focus on ballet at fourteen. During a prestigious summer intensive in New York, she wore out 12 pairs of pointe shoes! Her dedication earned her an invitation to join the Charlotte Ballet’s pre-professional training program, where she trained daily and performed throughout the year, including more than twenty performances of The Nutcracker.

Despite her demanding schedule, Karlee earned all A’s and graduated from Whitmore School before joining the Charlotte Ballet as a Company Dancer.

Karlee’s Typical Day

7:20 a.m. – Hit the snooze button
7:40 a.m. – Breakfast and smoothie
8:00 a.m. – Head to Charlotte Ballet
8:15–9:00 a.m. – Warm-up
9:30 a.m. – Technique classes
12:00 p.m. – Lunch
1:00–6:45 p.m. – Rehearsals for upcoming performances
7:00 p.m. – Dinner and recovery
9:00–11:00 p.m. – Complete Whitmore School coursework
11:00 p.m. – Rest and prepare for another day of training

Karlee’s schedule is demanding, but Whitmore School’s flexibility allowed her to balance rigorous ballet training with meaningful academic progress.
