School. Done in 3 Hours. Bam!
Written by Alina B.
Hey, it’s Alina. I am a Whitmore School graduate. Whitmore was the greatest decision for me, but one of the biggest transitions was staying organized. Everything is online, so there are no papers handed to you, and no textbooks (hallelujah)! Sounds easy, but it took me a while to get used to doing school online.
- Make a routine
I found making a routine to do my school work at the same time each week helped me out a lot. Example: every Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, and Sat log into your Lessons at 11am and work until 2pm. I did my school work 9am – 12pm. Then I had time for a part-time job in the afternoon.
- Print out your Lessons
If you have a printer, I suggest printing out the current lesson or the assignment. I know this may take a lot of paper, but it helped me look back at my work instead of getting lost in all the “scrolls”. After printing, I put them in their own binders. You don’t need to do this for all of your lessons, but I did for my most difficult lessons.
- Don’t be afraid to speak up!
In my traditional high school I was always embarrassed to ask my teacher questions because it was in front of the entire class. One of the many great things about Whitmore School is you can actually message your teacher and ask any questions you may have. By doing that, you are keeping yourself on track and moving forward. So, ask away!
- NO distractions
OK. This is HARD! Put your cell phone in another room. I know – this is hard. But, you will not believe how fast you can complete your school work if you avoid the phone for a few hours
