Stan has an M.A. in Special Education from West Virginia University. Besides a love for technology, Stan enjoys bicycling, contra dancing, and almost any outdoor activity. Stan is the founder of CompuHigh.
Ellen graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. degree in Biology. She has been a biology teacher, Director of Admissions, business owner, Founder and Principal of South Carolina Whitmore School. She is passionate about helping students achieve academic success. Ellen and Steve have two children and one grandson. Ellen loves to garden and have fun on the lake. She teaches Work Ethics.
Steve, Business Manager
Steve has a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Utah. He has been a commercial banker and successful retail business owner for eighteen years. He and Ellen have a son and a daughter (graduate of Compuhigh / Whitmore School) and one grandson. Steve lives in South Carolina and enjoys lake life with his wife and dog Daisy.
Jeannette, Educational Director and Teacher
Jeannette holds an M.A. in Literary and Cultural Studies from Carnegie Mellon University and is halfway through an M.S. program in Counseling Psychology. Jeannette lives in West Virginia and loves to explore the wild forests and streams of the state with her husband and children.
Jeannette is the Educational Director and teaches Psychology and English 12 Honors.
Kathleen, Guidance Director, and Teacher
Kathleen is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan with a B.A. in Elementary Education and is continuing her education towards a masters in counseling. She is a Counselor for our student athletes pursuing NCAA eligibility status for college. Kathleen enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing tennis, skiing, and hanging out with her dog, Molly.

Alina, Admissions Assistant
Alina is a graduate of CompuHigh / Whitmore School! After graduating, Alina studied Criminal Justice at American Public University. Alina is an Admissions Assistant focusing on providing information about our school to guidance counselors and principals throughout the states. Alina is married and has one son.
Alina teaches PE and Community Service.
Beth has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education – Social Sciences degree with a minor in History, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After traveling post-college, Beth now lives in her hometown in Florida. In her spare time, Beth enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, exercising, and spending time with her husband (they are newlyweds!). Beth has previous Academic Advising Experience that she brings to Whitmore students to guide them in achieving their educational goals.
Cindy, Counselor and Teacher
Cindy has a M.A. degree in Social Work from West Virginia University. She has retired from working as a counselor and spends her free time tending the gardens and poultry on the small farm she shares with husband David. She also enjoys playing music with friends and is learning to weave.
Cindy is a Counselor for our Whitmore School Plus program and teaches Environmental Science.
Inga, Curriculum Specialist
Inga is originally from the Pacific Northwest, but now calls South Carolina her home. She has and daughter and son who bring her great pride and joy. Inga enjoys building memories with her two children, working in her yard and taking care of her menagerie of animals.
Inga works with our teachers to keep our courses typo free and up to date.
Melissa, Admissions Counselor
Melissa works in the CompuHigh / Whitmore School Office as the Admissions Counselor. She speaks with students, parents, guidance counselors, and Athletic Directors to provide information about our diploma programs or individual courses. She is happy to answer all of your questions.
Alys has an MBA in International Management and Finance from Columbia Southern University, AL. She has traveled to over 40 countries and six continents for both work and pleasure. The height of her travels has taken her to the top of Kilimanjaro and surviving the dead sea. Alys lives in Florida with her husband, two children and her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Sophie and Maxwell. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to the movies, the performing arts, fall foliage, skiing and trying new things.
Alys teaches American Government and World Geography.
Amanda has a B.A. in Spanish, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. We call her Doctor Amanda! When Amanda is not on the other end of the computer working with students, she is reading, running or doing something with her family. She is married and has two lovely daughters. Both are ice skaters, so she stays cold year round.
Amanda teaches Spanish 1 and 2.
Cathy, Mathematics Department Chair
Cathy graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Secondary Education with specializations in math and physics, and continues to work toward a Master’s in Educational Psychology. When Cathy isn’t teaching, she enjoys time with her three children and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include singing, reading, and doing puzzles.
Cathy teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Probability and Statistics.
Clint, Social Studies Department Chair
Raised in Northern Virginia and Central West Virginia, Clint Lemasters currently resides in Elkins, West Virginia with his wife Kim and daughter Mollie. Clint is a certified secondary teacher, and runs a horseshoeing (farrier) business. His hobbies include fly fishing, horseback riding, bow hunting, and trying (and sometimes succeeding!) to stay in shape.
Clint teaches World Geography and World History.
Claudia has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and a Masters in Multi-Categorical Learning Disabilities. She lives in Fairmont, WV.
Claudia teaches English and Social Studies.
David has a Bachelors in Industrial Arts (Technology Education) from Fairmont State and a Masters in Administration from WVU. David has a small pick your own blueberry farm in West Virginia and plays old time music on the fiddle and bass with a couple of bands.
David teaches Web Design and Computer Applications.
Derwin, English Department Chair
Derwin holds a B.A. in English from Fairmont State University and began work on his Master’s in the fall of 2006 at WVU. His hobbies include reading Anglo-Saxon and Old English literature, strolling through art museums, and vegetable gardening with his wife. He also loves jazz and blues, and makes an incredible pot of gumbo. Derwin teaches at Fairmont State University as well as Whitmore School. Derwin teaches English 10 and English 10 Honors, English 11 Honors, English 12, Creative Writing, and Career Planning.
Jackie graduated from Fairmont State University with a B.A. in Theatre and Secondary Education with specializations in English and Oral Communications. She is also employed with FirstEnergy. Jackie has a passion for dance and has worked with local dance studios, dance teams and has choreographed for local theatre productions, as well. Jackie lives in Fairmont, WV with her husband and two children.
Jackie teaches English 3, English 11, Business English, Speech.
Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the University of Alabama, AL. She is currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Library Science. She is passionate about teaching students how to research and find answers. Jennifer grew up on a farm where she learned to operate a skid steer loader.
Jennifer teaches English 9 and English 9 Honors.
Joe has a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Science Education from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC and a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Physics from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. Joe lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his two children, and also teaches Science at SC Whitmore School. Joe enjoys reading and spending time with his children.
Joe teaches Physical Science, Physics and Biology.
Maggie has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, AR. She is married and lives in Columbia, SC with her husband who is completing law school. Maggie teaches English at Lexington High School as well as Whitmore School.
Maggie teaches English 9 and English 9 Honors.
Mark has a Master’s of Analytical Chemistry from WVU. He is a senior lecturer of Chemistry at WVU, and has reviewed and edited text books used at the college level. He resides in Morgantown with his wife and two children.
Mark teaches Chemistry.
Pamela graduated with a B.S. degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from West Virginia University. She currently teaches perinatal education classes to the community through West Virginia University Hospitals. She has home schooled her two children for almost 13 years. Pamela enjoys spending time with her children, dinners with her five sisters, and hiking with her Australian cattle dog. Pam teaches Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra 1, Health and Practical Math.
Queen holds a Masters Degree from American Military University, WV and so she is an experienced online learner. She has taught English and Social Studies in the United Arab Emirates, Columbia, Egypt and the USA. She is married and has a 6 year old son. She currently lives in the UAE with her son, while her husband lives in Ohio. Queen teaches American Government, World History, English 10 and English 12 Honors.
Stan received his B.A. from Duke University and a M.A. from Union Theological Seminary in NYC. An avid musician who composes and performs, Stan enjoys friends, family and fun in his hometown of Morgantown, WV.

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Ohio University. She has taught in a Montessori school where she focused on individualized learning with young learners. Stephanie is the mom of Callum, a sophomore at Whitmore she is also one of our Whitmore Bloggers. Be prepared for a good laugh when you read her blogs as she shares her personal experience as a parent of a virtual student.

Garrett M., California
Garrett is a freshman from California. He works two jobs to support his passion for Mountain Bike Racing. He trains 12 months a year to gear up for his competitive season. Garrett writes about how he manages to juggle work, school and racing.

I live in Illinois and I enrolled in Whitmore School my freshman year. I chose Whitmore because they allowed be to take responsibility for my education. My goal is to graduate early and I will achieve it this spring!
Maddie, Current Student
I have been doing online school with Whitmore for almost four years now. As a full-time gymnast who practices 20 hours a week, Whitmore allows me to keep up with my busy gymnastics schedule and get a personalized education at the same time. Through Whitmore, I have discovered my passion for writing and I can’t wait to see where it takes me!
Stephanie is Cal’s mom, a sophomore at Whitmore School. Cal is an early high school students who started at Whitmore when he was 12. She offers some great advice to other parents who are looking for a school solution.
